Poster for the Family History Fair

Don’t miss Tucson’s largest genealogy event, the Annual Family History Fair on Saturday, February 2, 2019. Held annually at the Tucson East Stake Center and Tucson Family History Center, 6901 E. Kenyon (south of Broadway and west of Kolb), this event draws nearly 300 people from Tucson and the surrounding communities.

The annual event is free and open to the public. This year opens at 8:30 a.m. with a special keynote address by Diana Elder, AG, and Nicole Dyer on Getting Organized One Paper at a Time. Seven classes will run simultaneously each hour from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a 45 minute break for lunch on your own (tables will be available). Displays and snacks will be available in the Cultural Hall and individual help will be available in the Family History Center in the northeast corner of the parking lot at 500 S. Langley Ave.

Several new classes will be offered this year. There is a full day of DNA classes, several classes on ethnic and international research, and classes on courthouse, census records, pension records, probate records, and more. Instructors are drawn from the Pima County Genealogy Society, Center Staff, and professional genealogists from Arizona and Utah.

Schedule of classes

The hardest part will be choosing which class to attend! To make that decision a little easier for you, the Tucson Family History Center has posted the class descriptions, class handouts, and short biographies of the speakers on their wiki site. The website can be reached by clicking here or by entering “Tucson Family History Center” in your browser’s search engine.

Handouts will not be available at the event, please print them out and bring them with you. Also, some rooms get chilly so please bring a sweater.

Remember, this event is FREE and open to the public. There is no pre-registration, just show up and spend a day of learning with us and fellow researchers.
