Timelines and the Catholic Church on Saturday, August 17, 2019

We are returning from our summer break on Saturday, August 17, with two great speakers from our society: Nicole Dyer and Joey Caccarozzo.

Nicole Dyer

First up will be a class on Track Your Family with a Timeline by Nicole Dyer. Discover the value of putting your ancestor’s life events into a timeline. Tracking their movements and actions can give you clarity on what you already know and help you find new places to search for records they left behind.

Nicole Dyer is a professional genealogist, lecturer, and creator of FamilyLocket.com and the Research Like a Pro podcast. She is the co-author of Research Like a Pro: A Genealogist’s Guide. Nicole specializes in Southern United States research. She speaks regularly at genealogy conferences and local events. She serves on the Steering Committee and is the Publicity Chair for the Pima County Genealogy Society. Nicole holds a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University in History Teaching.

Joey Caccarozzo

Following Nicole’s presentation, Joey Caccarozzo will speak on Roman Catholic Records–The Catholic Heritage. Catholocism is the largest Christian faith with nearly a billion Catholics worldwide. Catholic records pre-date civil registrations and, in some areas, records are available from the 1400s. In some cases, Catholic priests recorded births, marriages, and deaths of all citizens, even if they practiced a different faith. Learn what records were created, what information may be contained in those records, how to locate which parish your ancestors belonged to, and how to access these records.

Joey L. Caccarozzo is a federal trial attorney by day and a speaker and researcher by night and weekends with a focus on DNA, Italian, Louisiana, Slovak, and Ukrainian studies. She completed the Advanced Italian Genealogy course at the Genealogical Research Institute of Pittsburgh and is currently pursuing her Italian and Eastern European genealogy certificates through the National Institute of Genealogy Studies. Joey is the speaker coordinator for the Pima County Genealogy Society and a member of its Steering and Program Committees.
