First Program: Tucson Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution

Our first program for the Monthly Meeting is from Dr. Abraham “Rudy” Byrd, The Sons of the American Revolution: “All we are is a bunch of old men pinning medals on each other.” Learn about the Tucson Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution!

Dr. Abraham Byrd is a native Tucsonan and a physician in practice at Family Medicine: Sonora Family Practice. Rudy has been a member of the Sons of the American Revolution since 2004, past Chapter President, State President, and Surgeon General of the NSSAR 2011-2014. He has been interesting in genealogy since age 10.

Main Program: Hidden Genealogy in the Laws of State and Federal Government

Here is your opportunity for new research venues! Hidden Genealogy in the Laws of State and Federal Government, presented by Amy Urman, is our featured program. This presentation will provide an overview of the different types of laws that govern records pertaining to death, divorce, land, and other family history information found in congressional, state, and local legal documents.

Amy Urman is an experienced speaker, Professional Genealogist, and Private Investigator. She holds a General Research Certificate from Boston University and is a graduate of ProGen. She is the co-founder and past president of the Pima County Genealogy Society.

Meeting Information

Our Monthly Meeting is from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm Arizona time (MST/PDT). All our monthly meetings are free and open to members and non-members alike. Participants are required to register in advance to be considered for the Door Prize. Please indicate if you will be joining in person or via Zoom. After registering, the registrant will receive a confirmation email including information about joining the meeting.
