Join us on Saturday, April 20, when our special guest speaker Gena Philibert-Ortega will give us a peek at Life in 1920. Using life in the 1920s as a case study, we will look at sources for learning more about the era and the people living during this time. We will explore fashion, home management, occupations, membership organizations, news, historical events, entertainment, and more. We will then discuss how to conduct social history research in any era.

But first, we will hold a short graduation ceremony for the Genetic Genealogy in Practice Class of 2019. This was our first group studying the Genetic Genealogy in Practice workbook by Blaine Bettinger and Debbie Parker Wayne. The course was designed and knowledgeably led by PCGS members Everett Johnson and Kathleen Carter since last October and required a big commitment from all participants. Please join us in congratulating everyone on Saturday.

We will continue to play the Relatives Around Me game during the break. I find new cousins in the Society every month! If you haven’t played yet, read our blog post Are We Related? Find out on Saturday, April 21, 2018 to find out what you need to do before the meeting in order to play.

Our general meetings are free and open to members and non-members alike. All attendees are eligible for door prizes. The handout for Gena’s presentation is available to PCGS members only on our website in the Secure Download area. Remember to select Members Only to login, then navigate to Secure Download in the left navigation panel, then select 2019 Monthly Meeting Handouts. The handout is under April 2019. Not a member?
