Countdown to the 1950 Census and a Case Study: The Mysterious Death of Anna T McPhillips: Saturday, June 19th

The June 2021 virtual Pima County Genealogy Society monthly meeting is full of fun facts, intrigue, and strategies to learn so much more about your research subjects!  In our short session, Sherri Hessick, our PCGS President, will will present ” Countdown to the 1950 Census“.  According to the “72-Year Rule,” the National Archives releases census records to the general public 72 years after Census Day. The 1950 census records will be released in April 2022. Sherri will give us a quick peek of what to expect on the 1950 census and some tips on how to prepare for its release.  Remember, the time between now and April 2022 is going to fly – you want to be ready.

In our main program, Thomas MacEntee will treat us to a Case Study: The Mysterious Death of Anna T McPhillips.  Can a mysterious family photo with a cryptic message on the back lead you to an amazing story of love and loss? Starting with a family photo, learn how you can plan your genealogy research to find out more information about the photo’s subject including vital record information, newspaper articles, and even circumstances that you might not expect! You’ll also learn how to track your research and use solid research methodology to evaluate records.
