In addition to our featured program, we will have a highlight of what is coming up in 2023. Please join us for an excellent program and our celebration of the Pima County Genealogy Society.

PCGS Monthly Meeting Saturday, October 15, 2022

Archival Records in Government Archives

Wendi Goen is our Featured Presenter for our October Meeting.  Wendi will discuss the types of records available at the Arizona State Library and Archives in Phoenix as well as records that you would typically find at other state archives.  Some records even include coroner reports or inquests held for violent or suspicious deaths – a perfect topic to coincide with our upcoming ghoulish holiday.  She will also discuss services offered by the Archive that are available either online or over the phone.

Wendi began working for the Arizona State Archives in January 1999 as an Archivist and became the Archivist for Photograph Collections in 2007. She is now both the Lead Reference and Photo Archivist at the State of Arizona Archives.  She has been interested in photography since getting her first “real camera” at the age of 12.  Wendi holds Bachelors degrees in Government and Law and Society from New Mexico State University. She attended Illinois Institute of Technology Chicago-Kent College of Law, and holds a Master’s degree in Public History.

Health Advisory:

Covid transmission is high in Pima County, with Omicron BA 5 as the dominant strain. This variant evades protection from both vaccines and natural immunity, and is more contagious than other variants.  We strongly recommend that you wear a mask to our in-person events.  We also advise you to keep socially distant from others during our meeting out of respect for those who may be more vulnerable.

For those in-person attendees, we will have buttons for you to choose your comfort level concerning being around others. Red: you would like some extra space, Yellow: not ready for casual handshakes or touch, Green: I’m good and ready for a hug. Please respect the button choices of your fellow attendees! Thank you.
