Research Patriots and Recording Oral History – Saturday, November 21

Come join us on Saturday, November 21, for our class,  Can I use DAR.org? by Karen Winchester followed by our featured program Recording an Oral History: The Big Ten Blunders by Kristin Delaplane. You won’t want to miss our final meeting of the year!

Can I Use DAR.org?

Karen Winchester
Karen Winchester

The meeting will begin with PCGS member Karen Winchester giving a presentation on how the Daughters of the American Revolution’s (DAR) website is a great genealogical resource.  Karen will give an overview of what it offers and how to use it. We will look at the DAR library, several databases, card catalog and bible records. With over 1 million members’ applications, there is an abundance of information available to all.

Raised in Iowa, married to an Air Force man, Karen Winchester has lived in six states and in Panama Canal.  She has lived in Tucson for 30 plus years. She has a BS degree from the University of Phoenix in Business Administration. Karen has followed in the steps of her mother and grandmother in researching her family. She started in the 70’s helping her mom in libraries.  Taking a break to raise a family, she recently returned to her quest.  Due to her mother’s support, she has been a DAR member for over 30 years; her mother joined in 1979, and grandmother in 1972. Today Karen is the registrar for the Tucson Chapter of the DAR. She wants to share the resources of the DAR that are open to the public via on-line, to help you further your research and  hopefully find a Revolutionary patriot and perhaps to a Mayflower passenger.
