Record Transcriptions with PERSI: Saturday, January 15th

Welcome to 2022! We are ready to learn new skills and dig deeper into our genealogical practice and the PCGS January monthly meeting is a great way to get started.

Skill Building: Jodi Lynn Strait

Delving into Tombstone Symbols and Iconography

Tombstones are great resources when you’re building your family tree. While names and dates are important, the symbols and iconography found on some tombstones, gravestones, headstones, footstones, and memorials may help add life to your family history and biographies. This presentation will look at the little (and sometimes big) clues you can glean about professions, passions, interests, memberships, religion and much more.

Jodi Lynn Strait has been doing genealogical research for over 20 years. She is a member of the National Genealogical Society (NGS) and the Chinkchewunska, New Jersey, chapter of the DAR. She completed the NGS home study course and is a certificate holder of Boston University’s Genealogical Research Program. She also serves as a delegate for the NGS representing the Pima County Genealogy Society and its interests. Jodi was the third person to join PCGS, at least that’s what her PCGS member number says! She has served on the Steering Committee since its
inception, was the newsletter editor from 2014-2020, and has been the Treasurer since January 2018.
