Organizing DNA and the Public Land System on Saturday, January 18

Welcome to 2020! We have an exciting year planned for you all. Join us for our first meeting of the year on January 18 when we will feature Diahan Southard live streaming with her talk on Organizing Your DNA Results and Jodi Lynn Strait will help us in Understanding Townships and Ranges.

Diahann Southard will live stream for our program, Understanding Your DNA Results. Now that you have pages of matches and gobs of new information, how do you keep track of it all? We will spend time going over how to create and track correspondence, organization tools within each testing company, as well as strategies for tracking the genealogy information of your matches, including surnames, locations, and genetic relationships. You are bound to walk out of this lecture with a game plan that you can implement right away.

But first, Jodi Lynn will be our first speaker with our short class with Understanding Townships and Ranges. The Public Land Survey System (PLSS) is a way of subdividing and describing land in the United States. All lands in the public domain are subject to subdivision by this rectangular system of surveys, which is regulated by the U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management (BLM). Jodi Lynn will guide us through the use of the system.

Our general meetings are free and open to members and non-members alike. All attendees are eligible for door prizes. The handouts for the presentations are on our website in the Secure Download area and accessible by PCGS members only. Not a member? Go to our website’s Join/Renew page and see how fast and easy it is to join online!
