PCGS is the proud sponsor of the workshop 19th Century Irish Genealogy Research: What’s Available and How to Use it. Workshop participants will gain an in-depth look at Irish records created during the 1800’s. The Irish Civil Registration process will be explored, including the time period covered by these records and their limitations. The workshop will demonstrate how to use church parish records, Griffith’s Valuation, Tithe Applotment Books, and other early 19th Century sources to uncover your Irish ancestors. Participants will learn about Ireland’s civil and religious jurisdictions and why this knowledge is essential in locating your Irish ancestors. A case study will be used to illustrate the various ways to determine family relationships prior to the start of the Civil Registration process.
The workshop features Miles Davenport, genealogist & lecturer at the McLelland Library in Phoenix. Miles has over 18 years of genealogy research and publishing experience. In 2010, he published his own colonial family history spanning over ten generations. He has been published in The New York Genealogical and Biographical Record and teaches beginning and advanced genealogical courses at the Scottsdale Public and McClelland Libraries. Miles is currently a volunteer genealogist and lecturer at the McClelland Irish Library in Phoenix, Arizona.
The cost for attending the workshop is $15 for PCGS members or $20 for non-members. Advance registration is required and must be received no later than August 25, 2018.

Wish I could be there, but our grandson is being married in Aspen on September 22 so we need to stay in Colorado. I’ll read the handout for help. Paul Duffey
That’s too bad, Paul. We’ll miss you.
