Research Like a Pro is all of those things, and more. Research Like a Pro is a process developed by Diana Elder, AG® based on how she conducts research both professionally and personally. It is a surprisingly simple process that anyone can learn. She taught the process to her daughter Nicole Dyer who also uses it on every project she undertakes. They decided to share this discovery with “every genealogist who knows there’s a better way.” (Elder, Research Like a Pro: a Genealogist’s Guide, dedication page).
Diana developed an online Research Like a Pro Study Group that meets online and participants use the step-by-step process to conduct a research project on their own family. Each participant gives and receives feedback on their work which provides additional learning experiences for everyone participating in the program.
Not long after the first RLP Study Group finished, the book Research Like a Pro: A Genealogist’s Guide by Diana Elder with Nicole Dyer was published. Then came a closed Facebook group, a self-paced eCourse, and a Podcast. To top it all off, both Nicole and Diana regularly lecture at conferences and societies and they write articles for their website FamilyLocket.com.
This dynamic duo is conducting a hands-on workshop in Tucson on November 2, 2019! They will lead us in the Research Like a Pro process that has proven results time and time again. The workshop will consist of three hour-long blocks of lecture/work, with 10-minute breaks between, a 40-minute lunch break, and end with a project utilizing the process. Check-in is at 8:30 am with the workshop beginning sharply at 9:00 am.
Participants will have the choice of ordering lunch to be delivered from a local restaurant or of bringing their own. Instructions for ordering lunch will be provided to paid participants via email at a later date.
